Hunt for communism in Lithuania

In Lithuania, one of the three Baltic republics annexed by Stalin in 1940, all the symbols of communism are now being hunted. The statue of Lenin has been unbuttoned. Vytautas Landsbergis, the Lithuanian president, negotiates on the phone with the new head of the KGB Vadim Bakatine and (old reflex) records his telephone conversation with a small tape recorder. Vytautas LANDSBERGIS explains that "Because of the putsch the last dam was broken, the waves will take everything away! ". In Vilnius, the base of the statue of Lenin is torn off. Lithuanians are perched on the pieces of the base of the statue.
