Lawyer Serge KLARSFELD (President of the Association of Sons and Daughters of Jewish Deportees of France) comments on the latest events concerning Maurice PAPON: his conviction for complicity in a crime against humanity and his recent arrest after his escape attempt. After listing the various positions that Maurice Papon held throughout his career as a senior public servant and as a minister, the lawyer goes back on the long journey, which since 1981 has allowed the trial to take place. He thinks the defendant won’t get a presidential pardon. The Cologne trial, 20 years ago, brought to trial German Nazi criminals who worked to establish the "final solution".
