Traffic was disrupted on Tuesday evening 12 January 1999 in Paris and its region, due to the snowfall that caused nearly 300 kilometres of traffic jams on major roads, where, in some places, a layer of 3 to 5 cm of snow was deposited in less than two hours when leaving the offices. Many motorists found themselves totally blocked when they left work and spent the night in their vehicles. - PARIS/ Ile de France: TELETROTTOIR d'un homme contraint d'andonner son véhicule: "It is scandalous that the departmental and regional authorities being warned, nothing has been done before to prevent this kind of blockage" / Brief shot of the same man walking back on the lower side of a snowy road. - BY NIGHT/ Motorway A13: [different plans] Motorists and bikers stopped. - BIKER’S STREET: "Yes, they passed by, they passed too late, but I am sorry, it is not once you are blocked that they pass". - [Different plans] Road sanding - Interview with Daniel BASCOUL, road maintenance manager DDE Yvelines on the difficulties of intervention in large conurbations. - [Various plans]: Convoy of DDE trucks on the A13 aurora.
