Explanation avalanche Les Orres

Massif des Orres (Hautes-Alpes): A group of 32 hikers, supervised by UCPA professionals who had been informed of the risks, was thrown against trees by an avalanche. Eleven people were killed and twenty injured. The majority of the group were teenagers from a college in Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Yvelines). In recent days, the risks of avalanches were at their maximum, due in particular to the snowfall of the beginning of the week accompanied by wind. Comment on factual images and interview François FIVARDIERE (Association nationale de la neige et des avalanches), about the difficulty to spot the "plates avant" giving place to avalanches.
