Fusion de Air France et Air Inter
Christian BLANC, the CEO of the Air France group, confirmed before the works councils the disappearance of Air Inter and its merger with Air France. In 1997, the single airline will have two distinct divisions: domestic and European flights on one side and long-haul flights on the other. The CEO tried to reassure the employees by specifying that the pilots of Air France Europe (formerly Air Inter) will have to make wage efforts, but that for the others, there will be no changes. The working conditions and salaries will be those in force at Air France. Airline pilots will lose about 15% of their salary. Air France Europe employees are very attached to their corporate agreements, as Pierre Yves TRANO, CFDT of Air France Europe, points out. Nadine LIANES, CGTde Air France Europe delegate, summarizes the concern of Air France Europe staff: "we have never seen a merger result in an increase in staff or an increase in social conditions".
