Official inauguration of the first French atomic pile at Fort de Châtillon

Near Paris, at the Fort of Châtillon (Hauts de Seine), on the communes of Châtillon under Bagneux and Fontenay aux Roses, the first French atomic pile, begun in 1945, "Zoe", came into service. The President of the Republic, Vincent Auriol, attended the first tests of this machine which will soon develop a power of a few kilowatts.
