In Paris, at the Palais de Chaillot which became "Palais de l'ONU" for three months, the delegates of the 58 participating nations made their entrance and the President of the Republic Vincent AURIOL gave a speech on peace. The Australian delegate Herbert Vere EVATT was elected president of the 3rd session of the UN.
