The Statute of the Lords and Wilson’s Reform Plan

The Statute of the Lords and Wilson’s Reform Plan

In Britain, a reform project, initiated by Mr Wilson, provides for a change in the operation of the House of Lords, whose main function is to examine and amend bills. The reform provides, among other things, for a change in its composition to be chosen by the Prime Minister, and the setting of an age limit of 72 years for peers. Jacques-Olivier CHATTARD speaks, in duplex from London, with Lord ARRAN, eighth Earl of Arran who explains exactly what this project of reform of the House of Lords consists of, it turns them into a politician. At present, they vote according to their conscience and are hereditary peers.
