Georges Pompidou on the university
President Georges POMPIDOU is questioned by the journalist of France Soir, Serge MAFFERT on several topics including the problem of violence following clashes between police officers and students at the University of Nanterre, yesterday, March 2: the silent mass is increasingly concerned by the masses who use violence, how do you intend to ensure both the authority of the State and the tranquility of all, especially at the university?". For Georges POMPIDOU "it is not necessary to confuse the malaise of the university and the action of revolutionary groups in the universities which intend to destroy the society by the violence ... it is to the state to ensure the order, the safety of the people and the goods...". It is up to the government to restore republican order. It also mentions the law of orientation for the university which allows each of these institutions to be autonomous in its organization
