Nevé Shalom: a peaceful village in Israel

Two months after the start of the clashes in the territories occupied by Israel, a report on the village of Névé Shalom or the Oasis of Peace, a village created in 1977 by Jews and Arabs of Israeli nationality, selected for the 1988 Nobel Peace Prize. Various members of the villages, Jews and Arabs, talk about their cohabitation and the current situation in Israel. Eytan KREMER, treasurer, feels Israeli but thinks about refusing to join the Israeli army in the West Bank. As for Evy GUGENHEIM, social worker, she explains how they addressed delicate points such as the Independence Day. Abed abdel salam NADJAR, secretary of Neve Shalom explains: "I believe we have managed to raise our children in our spirit of coexistence...".
