Visit of Abdelaziz Bouteflika in France
Report on the official visit of Abdelaziz BOUTEFLIKA to France. The Algerian president was received by Jacques Chirac at the Elysée, where a dinner was organized on this occasion, in the presence of many personalities, including Lionel Jospin, Jean-Pierre Chevènement, Simone Veil and Enrico Macias, whom he warmly greeted. During the banquet, the toast was followed by the declarations of the two heads of state. Abdelaziz Bouteflika arrived at Orly airport in the early afternoon, where he was welcomed by Jacques Chirac. Image comments from that day and that evening alternate with excerpts from the statements of the two Chairs. Jacques CHIRAC stresses that this visit marks a new date in the history so strong and so singular of the relationship between the two countries and salutes "the statesman who gives hope and courage to bruised Algeria". Abdelaziz BOUTEFLIKA insists on the symbolic burden of this visit, earnestly wishing that it would be the beginning of a new era in the relations between the two countries.
