Marsh filtering and depolluting for wastewater from Orly airport

Marsh filtering and depolluting for wastewater from Orly airport

36,000 feet of reeds, rushes and irises were planted along the Orly airport runways to naturally clean up the glycol-laden water used to de-ice aircraft. Upstream, rainwater runoff from the airport is first filtered based on the pollutants it contains (hydrocarbons, gum dust, glycol) in ponds near the marsh. Orly is the only airport in France to use this natural pollution control system.
