Statement by Habib Bourguiba on the steps of the Elysée
On an official visit to France, received at the Elysée by Georges POMPIDOU, Tunisian President Habib BOURGUIBA makes a statement to journalists on the doorstep after the traditional handshake, in an international context, a few months after the Kippur war and the OPEC embargo against the Western countries that supported Israel: "France will not lack oil, I called yesterday from my bedroom to Mr. Gadhafi and Boumedienne... So there will be no shortage of oil for France, England, Germany, and Austria."
